As you prepare for the holidays and colder New Jersey temps, make sure that your HVAC system is ready for the season. A.J. Perri can help you prepare your home with these quick tips!

Replace the filter

If your filter is dirty, it’s time to replace it. Keeping a clean filter in your furnace ensures that it runs most efficiently and helps reduce costs. It’s a good time to check it at the beginning of the winter season, and then you can set a reminder on your phone or your calendar to check and replace it regularly throughout the colder months! And don’t forget to figure out how to choose the right filter!

Clean vents

We all know about spring cleaning, but the start of the winter can be a good time to do some whole-house cleaning as well. One important thing to do is to vacuum the vents throughout your house. This will both improve air quality and increase efficiency of your HVAC system.

Check your thermostat

When you turn on the heat in your home, review your thermostat schedule. Is anyone in your family leaving for work at a different time, or going to bed earlier? Update the schedule so you can fully heat your home only at the times when you need to. Cost-saving measures like this can make a huge difference in your energy bill.

Inspect your insulation

Insulation is an important part of maintaining the heat in your home and not losing it in your attic or garage. Check your insulation to ensure that it’s efficiently installed, but if you’re not sure how to do so, A.J. Perri can check for you during a maintenance visit.

Schedule a semiannual inspection

An HVAC technician from A.J. Perri can visit your home for a semiannual inspection, where we’ll ensure that your machine is in tip-top shape, troubleshoot for any problems you’re experiencing, and clean your system to increase efficiency.

A.J. Perri is here for you as the holidays approach and as the temperatures drop here in New Jersey. Reach out today at (732) 733-2548 to schedule a semiannual inspection or for any other HVAC needs.
