If You Delay, You Pay..  5 Repairs That Can’t Wait.

We understand.  No one wants to spend their summer, or savings, to make repairs around the home.  We’d rather spend our free time outdoors, enjoying the weather too.  While it is tempting to put chores off for a rainy day, some repairs and routine maintenance tasks simply cannot wait.  We’re sure you’ve heard it before, but when faced with the five repairs or maintenance tasks below- you simply cannot afford to put off for tomorrow what you can do today.

1. Plumbing Leaks
Leaks in your plumbing can add up to thousands of dollars in damage if they are left untreated.  Just one leaking pipe can ruin cabinets, subfloors and even ceilings if they are leaking in a top floor of your home.  Leaks come in many forms, and something as seemingly small as a leaky toilet or faucet can cost you higher water bills.  Don't wait until you have a plumbing emergency.  If you repair leaks right away, you can save yourself future damage and repair costs.

2. Inefficient Heating & Cooling Systems
Having your heating & cooling system maintained just once a year can add 3-5 years to the life of your system.  A tune-up will improve the efficiency of your system, which in turn will allow you to save money on your utility bills.  However, the greatest benefit of annually maintaining your heating and cooling system lies in prevention.  A trained HVAC technician will be able to spot any warning signs of potential problems with your system.  If you notice that your system cycles on and off more often or that the natural gas pilot light is orange or yellow instead of blue, it is time to call for a repair estimate.

3. Cleaning or Replacing Dirty Air Filters
You may be surprised to learn that one of the most common reasons for heating and cooling system repairs is neglecting to change or clean your air filter.  A dirty air filter forces your system to work harder to force air through it, and it allows dirt and dust to build up in your system.  Replace or clean your filter monthly, and you could save yourself costly repair or replacement fees, and lower your utility bill in the process.

4. Gas leaks
Never attempt to repair a gas leak or gas appliance.  Evacuate the premises immediately and notify the gas company or local authorities at the very first sign of a gas leak.  Keep an eye out for the following signs: a dry patch of grass or dead and dying vegetation near gas lines in your yard, damaged connections to gas appliances, dirt or water blowing into the air, unusual hissing sounds, a distinctive gas odor.

5. Electrical problems
If left unrepaired, electrical problems will put your home and family at risk.  Faulty wiring can cause a fire, costing you much more than the repairs will.  If you notice flickering lights, malfunctioning plugs or frequently blown fuses you likely have a bigger problem on your hands.  We advise you to contact a licensed electrician to diagnose any issues immediately.
Here at AJ Perri, we strive to provide prompt and courteous service and hope you will give us a call to assist you with any repairs that just can’t wait.
