How to Quickly Update the Look of Your Bathroom in Time for the New Year

December 08, 2014

The holiday season and New Year are filled with gatherings, meals and plenty of celebrating- most of which happens at home. More entertaining at home means more people will need to use your bathrooms, of course. We recommend starting with the restroom your guests will choose first- but don't forget about the others, just in case. And we always recommend calling a professional plumber if your update turns into a remodel.

1. Presentation. Tossing bulky, unattractive product packaging is a simple way you can unify the look of your guest bath- without spending much time or money. Often, you already have more stylish alternatives lying around the house. Consider up cycling old decanters or candleholders to store toiletries or paper goods.

2. Storage. We see a lot of bathrooms in our line of work- and the one thing most of them have in common is a lack of functional storage. A good rule of thumb is to store objects where you use them. Often you will find this is the most sustainable way to keep order long term. A great example of this would be the baskets of towels and extra toiletries you often find in spas and hotels. Make good use of rarely used tableware by corralling hair ties in a pretty dish, for example.

3. Fixtures. Score an updated bathroom while saving the environment by replacing outdated fixtures with sleeker more energy efficient ones.
